There are five species of hamsters commonly kept as pets

The largest and most common is the Syrian Hamster.
Four species of dwarf hamsters are also kept as pets:
the Dwarf Campbells Russian Hamster,
the Dwarf Winter White Russian Hamster,
the Roborovski Hamster and
the Chinese Hamster (the Chinese Hamster is not technically a Dwarf Hamster but is often referred to as such due to its small size).
What we like to eat:
Seeds: Sunflower (little),
Grains: All found in mixes from pet shop
Nuts:
Vegetables (raw): Broccoli, Carrot, Leaves of cauliflower, Parsley, Spinach, Turnip, Cabbage, Sprouts, Lettuce (not iceberg), Celery, Cucumber
Fruit (little): Grape, Apple, Raisin, Strawberry
Treats: Boiled egg, Sultana, Dog biscuit, Fruit cake, Yoghurt drops, Dried fruit and vegetables
Wild plants: Leaves of Clover, Dandelion, Raspberry, Chickweed, Yarrow
(Be careful! Many wild plants are poisonous or covered in insecticie if by the road)
NEVER: Salted nuts, Crisps, Chocolate, Sweets or anything sticky. Could get lodged in its cheek pouches.
